Yendis is a Bolian member of the Federation Council. She had always been a proponent of a greater moral standing to even the darkest of Black Ops missions. This had put her at odds with the majority of the Council, but had always made her one of Atragon-9's few defenders on the Council. Following the succession of corrupt Consul Generals (Melville and Jaffe) and even the slow corruption of Inspector General Morris, the Council decided that it needed a new direction in leadership. On SD 50912.21, the Council eliminated the position of Inspector General (they asked Morris to "spend more time with his family") and elected Yendis as the new Consul General.
